Reduction Linocut Printing With Helen Clarke
Join renowned West Australian printmaker Helen Clarke as she leads a day intensive reduction linocut printing workshop here in the Midland Junction printmaking studio. Helen will guide you through the complex process of creating an image by carving into linoleum and printing layers of coloured ink. Skills covered in the workshop include transferring an image to lino, an introduction to carving tools, carving techniques, registering and editioning prints. All materials such as lino blocks, acid free paper, cutting tools, inks and rollers are included in the workshop fee.
Helen Clarke is a prolific West Australian printmaker whose hand-coloured etchings and reduction relief prints explore the landscape and flora of Australia. She is particularly known for her photographic-like reduction linocut prints, created by printing up to twenty-five coloured layers of oil based ink. Helen is based in her converted convent studio near Walkaway in WA’s Mid West and will be delivering two workshops in Midland exclusively.
Participants will be required to bring a drawing or photograph that they wish to reproduce in the workshop, as well as closed in shoes.
